Because there is no overhead motion with the splitting wedge axe, one can use it indoors, in cramped areas and low buildings. Note that there is strain on the floor, so there is risk of cracking a cement floor. Always have a piece of plywood under the firewood to prevent damage to the wedge or the floor.
